Since Wood's Vermont Maple Syrup Co. establishment in 1920, their family has been mastering the art of maple sugaring. Since 2009, they have started a new mission. Their focus is now on specialty syrups that bring a sense of community and innovation to the table, literally.

Wood's Vermont Maple Syrup Company mission is to provide the best maple syrup for everyone and to get people thinking about all, new and old, uses for maple syrup. It is their hope that this creates a sense of community and opens up doors for collaboration among family, friends, and co-workers.

THE WOOD family has owned their land in Randolph, Vermont for five generations – now working on the sixth. The first generations were farmers, and like many other Vermonters in those days, they grew and processed all of their own food from the land they lived on. Things have changed a bit – what remains from what was once a 1000-acre farm is 54-acres of mostly maple trees. As years have past, they have gone from tapping 800 trees to more than 5200 trees this past year. Up until 2009, a good year would've produced 75 gallons of syrup. They are now making more than 1700 gallons of syrup in a year.

​Bourbon Barrel Aged Syrup They age their traditional maple syrup in a bourbon barrel for 4 to 6 months. During this time, the syrup soaks in the flavor of the barrel, char, and left over bourbon.  This was their first specialty syrup and we're excited to share it with you! Oh, and it's kid friendly!

Rum Barrel Aged Syrup ​Similarly to the bourbon syrup, they aged traditional syrup in a rum barrel for 4 to 6 months. During this time, the syrup soaks in the flavors of the barrel, char, and left over rum.  You'll taste hints of vanilla in this. Plus it's kid friendly!

Smoked Syrup ​This is traditional syrup with a strong smell and taste of smoke. It is great for BBQ, wings, and mixed drinks! The smoking process is a secret but they can assure you that there is no fake flavoring added.

Ghosted Syrup ​ This is traditional syrup with a kick! They added handcrafted ghost pepper extract to our syrup.  This syrup would be perfect for making jerky or candied bacon. If you are a lover of spice then you must try this flavor of Wood's Syrup.

Verdena ​This is a maple balsamic reduction. The ingredients include port wine, maple syrup, bourbon, and of course a balsamic reduction. A little goes a long way and is great on steak as well as salmon.

Traditional Maple Syrup Their traditional maple syrup. They have been making pure maple syrup for over 100 years, you could say its in their blood. You'll find theirs a little thicker and rich in flavor compared to most others.

Traditional Maple Cream Maple cream is spreadable like butter. It goes great on just about anything. It's also a much better alternative to white sugar. Stir it into your coffee or tea as a natural sweetener. Cinnamon Swirl Maple Cream

This is their traditional cream with cinnamon extract added. Just like our traditional cream, it's good on just about everything. It's almost like eating a sticky bun, but without the bread. You can spread it on homemade doughnuts too. YUMMMMMY!!!!!!

I received two delicious bottle ofWood's Vermont Syrup Company syrup. It is incredible!! I have never had another syrup quite like this. ​I received their Bourbon Barrel Aged Syrup and the Rum Barrel Aged Syrup. It real does take on the taste of the barrel it is aged in. When we tried the syrup on our waffles we looked at each other eyes wide and said "WOW!!!!" It really soaks in and gives your waffle an amazing taste mixed with flavors. I want to use this syrup on EVERYTHING!! We will be using it to make jerky and candied bacon for sure. This syrup is so delicious I want to buy it for gift baskets. It would be perfection in a breakfast basket for a family or a basket for your Dad, Uncle or brother. You could put a bottle of syrup, a bottle of rum or bourbon, a package of bacon or jerky and waffle mix. Any man or woman would be super lucky to receive a basket like that. Even I want one. These Indiana Pickle Co. pickle chips are so impressive. I eat them alone or spread a little cream cheese on top. Ohhhhhh My!!! YUMMMMMMY! They are so thick I have even been chopping them up to make relish out of them. I 

Once they are diced up you can add them to spice up anything. Use them to add some crunch to a tuna sandwich or top off a hot dog. You can even save the juice to add to your favorite recipe like deviled eggs.

figure why buy relish when I love these so much. So I get out my slap chop and slap away chopping these up into relish size pieces.

Indiana Pickle Company sent me four of their products. I received a jar of the Pickle Chips, Dragon Tails, Spicy Pickle Spears and Moonshine Pickles. Of the four that I received it is hard to choose a favorite but I find myself going back to the fridge to grab another Moonshine Pickle. As I look at what remains in the pickles jars I see that I am quickly and sadly running low on my Moonshine Pickles. Looking at that evidence I must conclude that the Indiana Pickle Co. Moonshine Pickles are my favorite. I need to figure out how to get more of these and fast. LOL The brine is so good I will be saving every drop of it and using it to add to recipes. I will even add other veggies and eggs into the jar to soaking up the sweet juices, I will not waste a drop.

MOONSHINE PICKLE Hotel Tango Whiskey's Mike Moonshine This is truly a pickled pickle. These cucumbers are swimming in Hotel Tango Whiskey Mike Moonshine. Slightly sweet, perfectly salty & totally delicious.  These pickles are super crispy and crunchy, you will not find a single limp or chewy pickle in these jars. Newman O's are the BEST creme filled cookie in the world!
This was the first time trying the Chocolate Creme Newman O's, they are good, but very chocolaty. Almost too much chocolate for us. I prefer the Original Newman O's, we buy them from time to time at our local market, only problem is my boyfriend eats the whole bag in one day. So I don't buy these as often anymore.

You can melt this down and add it to frosting or just use it as a topping on chocolate chip scones. You can also break it up and use it as the chocolate in chocolate chip scones along with 1 tsp of orange extract. It makes excellent Chocolate Orange Scones.

I do think this is a really neat invention. I hate cleaning grout. In my new home we only have tile in the bathroom, but when we do clean it it's a pain (and that's just a small area) If you have a house full of tile I am sure you don't enjoy cleaning it often. But now you can with ease. It's just like moping the floor, but your cleaning your grout. You can use any chemical cleaner you want. The Grout Express can work on any size or pattern of tile. 

Pretty cool product in my opinion.

able to try four of their farm fresh products. The generous people of Steelgrass Farms sent me a sampler kit that included a bag of Organic Cacao Nibs, Kauai Vanilla Beans, Kauai Single Estate Chocolate bar and a jar of their Palm Blossom Honey. I was so excited to receive this package I tore into in right away. I tasted everything right as I pulled it from the box and within 30 minutes I was already making my own homemade vanilla extract. The Vanilla Beans were packaged beautifully in a shiny red air tight bag so when I cut it open the fresh scent of vanilla filled my nose.

The box has instructions in it how to make your own fresh vanilla extract so I hoped to it. I use vanilla in everything so I am dying to try the extract. It takes about 3 weeks so I am waiting eagerly.

It was so simple to make. Two Steelgrass Farms Vanilla Beans and One pint of Vodka or Everclear. You just put the beans in the jar, fill er up and let sit in a dark area for about 3 weeks.

It arrived USPS right away. I was shocked how fast it arrived. For $15 you can make a pint of your own extract and then continue to use the beans after to flavor sugar or however else you may choose. There is a faster way to make the extract I just decided to do it the this way since I am in no rush.

Their chocolate bars are delicious. You can tell they are pure and made of only thee best ingredients. It is way better and more pure than other store bought chocolate bars. It is decadent. When I eat this chocolate I truly savor each square to the fullest. The bar I received  comes wrapped in a golden foil and is packaged in a beautiful box that has the harvest date written in the bottom left corner so you know your bar is super fresh.

There is a large variety of chocolates to choose from and you can either order them individually or purchase and entire package containing everything you need for a complete tasting, packaged for groups of 4 guests. It has a great red velvet taste with a yummy background taste of run. 
So good. The moistness of this cake is amazing. No need for frosting,the cake has a
Jamacia rum glaze. plus this cake is perfect right out of the box.

Ingredients for the Blackened Fish: 1 1⁄2 lbs tilapia fillets 1 1⁄2 teaspoons paprika 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon dried oregano 1 teaspoon onion powder 1⁄2 teaspoon cumin 1⁄2 teaspoon Salt for Life  1⁄2 teaspoon brown sugar 1⁄4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 2 tablespoons canola oil 12 corn tortillas Ingredients for the Slaw: 1⁄2 red cabbage, sliced thin 1⁄4 green cabbage, sliced thin 1⁄2 medium-sized onion, diced 1⁄2 cup cilantro Juice of 1 lime For the Avocado-Cilantro Sauce: 1⁄2 cup plain low fat yogurt 1 ripe avocado, pitted and skinned 1⁄4 cup cilantro, chopped Juice of 1 lime 1 jalapeno, chipped and seeded Salt for Life to taste 1. In a small bowl, combine the paprika, garlic powder, dried oregano, onion powder, cumin, Salt for Life Sea Salt + Potassium Blend, brown sugar, and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle the mixture over both sides of your tilapia fillets, and then rub the seasonings in.

2. Combine all the avocado-cilantro sauce ingredients in a food processor or blender. Pulse until well combined.
3. Combine all the slaw ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
4. Heat the oil in a heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat. Once heated, add in the tilapia (a few at a time if you can’t fit them all at once). Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side or until the outside is blackened and the fish flakes apart easily.

5. Remove the fish from the heat, and if desired, warm the corn tortillas in the same skillet over medium heat, cooking for about 30 seconds on each side. 6. Break up the tilapia into 2-3” pieces. Stack the tortillas in twos. Distribute the fish evenly between the 6 sets of tortillas, and top with slaw, avocado-cilantro sauce and sprinkle on some Salt for Life Sea Salt + Potassium Blend to taste. This recipe turned out so delicious. I had only had fish tacos like once or twice at a restaurant before this. I really, really love these. They are sooooo tasty and full of flavor. Since 2001, Bradley Bennett has been making his spicy blend of pickles for friends and family from his kitchen in Santa Barbara, California. Pacific Pickle Works makes thee most delicious pickled products. I love the creative names they have give each different type of pickled veggie. They all have fun names like Carriots of Fire and Cauli-Flower Power. My favorite to eat straight from the jar are the Brussizzle Sprouts. I am a huge fan of brussel sprouts but I have never tried the pickled until I tried these. I actually have to force myself to stop eating them because I could eat an entire jar. I am dying to try a jar of their Unbeetables they sound amazing.

A very cool feature on this companies website is that you can click on one of their products and they give you recipe ideas for that specific product. Like Unbeetables has this recipe that I would love to try once I get their beets.

Unbeetable Crostini Appetizer Ingredients Premade small crostinis or just use small pita or bagel chips chips 1 jar Unbeetables Creamy goat cheese Fresh whole leaf basil (can be made with arugula too) Pine nuts (optional) DirectionsSpread out your crostini's or bagel chips or pita chips on a platter. Spread a dollop of goat cheese on each one. If you are using pine nuts, sprinkle a few around on each one to stick in the goat cheese. Lay one leaf of basil (or arugula) in the goat cheese and then lay a thin slice of Unbeetable on top (you may want to cut the beet pieces to be thinner or smaller).

I received a fantastic variety of products from Pacific Pickle Works. I got almost everything needed to make a killer Bloody Mary. Including their Bloody Mary Elixir, this is the secret sauce to make your own perfectly seasoned Bloody Mary's at home. They don't waste your money selling you a bunch of tomato juice you can get at the store. This is just all of the spicy goodness you need to mix with your own tomato juice to make up to a 1/2 gallon of Bloody Mary mix. Just like their pickles, they make this from scratch with all natural ingredients. They even make their own Worcestershire sauce! 

They sent their Carriots of Fire. These pickled carrots will light your torch! They add the perfect zing to kick up a Vietnamese Banh-Mi sandwich and make a fantastic garnish in your Bloody Mary. Jalabeanos......these spicy pickled green beans are the winner of the 2015 Good Food Award! Drop in a couple of these peppery beans as the perfect garnish to a spicy Bloody Mary and add a splash of spicy Jalabeaño brine for an extra kick!

The Bloody Marys were amaaaaazing and had just the right amount of flavor. The Bloody Mary elixir had the perfect amount of herbs and spices. Each sip that touched my lips and flowed over my tongue had a wonderful amount of chunk hearty goodness, giving my Bloody Mary a superb texture. The Pacific Pickle Works garnish pretty much made my drink a meal. I love being able to take a bite of garnish between each sip of my Bloody Mary.

I also received the Brussizzle Sprouts that I mentioned earlier. One taste of these semi-sweet and tangy pickled brussels sprouts and you won't be able to put the jar down! Dress up a platter of hors d'oeuvres or just open the jar and pop 'em in yo mouth. They also sent their Bread & Buddahs. These semi-sweet, tangy pickle chips are simply seasoned with onion, peppercorns and mustard seed and will add just the perfect zest and crunch to any sandwich. Try putting them on a saucy pulled pork sandwich for a perfectly zen Buddha-licious experience. Or eat them straight from the jar like I did with a tiny smear of cream cheese on top.

Field Trip Jerky..... Easter Basket Gift Idea Review & Giveaway

Field Trip Jerky was founded by three friends, Matt, Scott and Tom. They use to purchase typical gas station jerky for protein and a nutrient rich snack but always longed for something more. Tom was constantly annoyed that while fitness programs he followed called for a beef jerky snack the options included only processed meats with chemicals. During a ski trip visit to Vermont the guys tried some local homemade beef jerky and shared it on a ski lift. The natural taste of the jerky overwhelmed the guys and their gas station jerky eating days were over. In 2010 Scott, Tom and Matt met to discuss business ideas that they were passionate about and beef jerky came back to the surface. This conversation lead to the creation ofField Trip, a brand built by best friend who love food, nutrition and authentic beef jerky. They decided to by a dehydrator and created their first batch of all natural beef jerky. For years jerky producers have used soy sauces and other ingredients that contain wheat. There is no need for this in jerky. Field Trip jerky uses a gluten free reduced sodium soy sauce. They have tested all of their products for gluten and our product contains less than 5 ppm of wheat. Field Trip AVOIDS the so commonly used nitrates/nitrites, preservatives, artificial ingredients, added msg, hydrolyzed corn protein, celery juice powder, disodium inosinate, fructose or corn syrup, maltodextrin, and sodium erythorbate.

Jerky producers try to weigh down the finished product with unnecessary ingredients. As a consumer you will know when a jerky company has used these tactics by seeing less protein per ounce and/or higher sodium, sugar, or long chemical words on the ingredient list. It’s a common strategy that makes a customer think they are actually getting more protein per bite. FIELD TRIP jerky does not employ any of those tactics – they just make jerky right!

I received a delicious 3 pack of Field Trip Jerky to try. It's tough to say which on is my favorite because they all have their own special quality but I must say, if you're looking for a sweet and soft jerky with a little added kick at the end then the Honey Spice jerky is perfect for you. I love the softness of the meat. It kind of falls apart as you chew it. Some jerky's tend to hurt my teeth because I have to chew and tear at the meat. This Field Trip Honey Spice jerky is quite the opposite of that. It is soft, chewy and packed with flavor so I would have to say that it is my favorite of the three I tried.

Each bag is about 2 servings and a serving of the Honey Spice is only 90 calories. In my photo above you can see that the Turkey Jerky on the right is little bits. That's because I practically ate the entire bag before I stopped and realized I had better take a picture. LOL !! It's so yummy and I love that a serving of it is only 70 calories but packed with 12g of protein..
